Dist is to large

Dist is to large

Iam putting a 455 in my 350 cutlass 72 convertible...swapping parts is been ok the 350 had a hei dist installed iam running an iffy 360 intake..when swapping the hei it hits the tunnel on the intake...hei base to wide...I also have a mallory dual point but wanted the hei any thoughts ...conversions...smaller hei...or run the dual point...thanks ...crankit

It is my understanding from previous post, your options are to massage the intake and hope you don’t break through into the port. Or you run a narrow cap distributor with an outboard coil.

Thanks Gary for the input I think the messaging the intake isnt gonna happen it hits the runner by about 1/4 inch ..didnt want to spend more money on another dist so maybe stick with the mallory dual point thanks for the input...I might look into the smaller base dist...thanks ...crankit

That offenhauser intake is really not going to benefit you over a stock intake other than weight.

So scrap the paper weight and use the stock intake and the hei ...well now I have some deciding to do...thanks all
