Dipstick

I swapping a 66 425 into my 76 cutlass with the 350 and I can’t find the dipstick tube for the 425. Are the 350 and 425 dipsticks the same or do I need to buy a new one.

Thanks

Tubes and indicators are matched sets, and there are several different lengths for various engines over the years. You can use what you have and make the stick work: put in 5 quarts of oil, then make a new FULL mark the stick where the oil is.

Okay, so 5 quarts is the stock capacity for these engines. Just wanted to make sure this one would work before finding out the hard way.

Supercars sells the correct tube for the 1966-67 400/425 motors, but the reality is, so long as the tube and dipstick match, the year doesn't matter.

What Joe said, as long as you have the matching set of tube and stick, the year of application doesn't matter. What matters is the bottom portion below the two dog knots and flange that snugs up to the block. The upper length can be any length as long as it is a matched set.
