Compressed lifters

Has anyone had any issues with the lifters compressing from the engine setting for a few months at a time? I have an early 70s 455 in a 57 Rocket 88, I have let it set for a few months without starting it, while I was working on it, and now I have a lifter making noise, any suggestions on how to free it up, without pulling the lifter out?

Thank you,
Brett

You can add some rislone engine treatment or marvel mystery oil to your oil. May have gotten some dirt in one.

I had a Dodge 360 that would do that. Never tried to fix it, it always quieted down after a few seconds so I let it be. I was not particularly kind to that truck so it never bothered me. YMMV!

X2 on what Eric said. Years ago we used to use Bardahl and it worked great. I don't know if they even make it anymore. I just checked and it is still around. I just haven't needed it in a long time. Here is the link:

Or you can add a qt of mineral spirits and run it for awhile. Basically the same stuff as all those other additives.

Actually they are not the same thing. Transmission fluid is close.

Thank you all for the suggestions, it looks like I just needed to drive it a little, I went half a block up the street and back, and it has quieted down.

It's sure comforting to know you have good people that will help you out!!!
Thanks again!
