Carb Fast Idle Dashpot for A/C
Help! I have a 1967 Toronado with A/C that finally works! When the A/C is on the idle really drops down - to the point that turn signals won't flash. Is there a fast idle dashpot/solinoid for the 1967 toronado? Looks like the car has one, but it does not have any electrical connections, and I cannot figure out how it would work. Did not see anything in the Service Manual for this. Any advise on how to up the idle speed when the A/C is on would be greatly appreciated.

The 425 is not a girly motor. It should barely slow down at all.
More details, including the actual RPM change, would be helpful.
Also, even with the engine switched off the signal lights should work, so it sounds like you may have a battery or corrosion problem.

It's not terribly uncommon to have to kick up the idle speed screw a quarter to half turn during the summer to compensate for the A/C. The dashpot just stops the throttle from slamming shut, which can cause a stall when the compressor is engaged.
The A6 compressor is called 'the rock crusher' for a reason.

I owned a 74 VW Super Beetle Sunbug with factory air and that A/6 was almost as big as the motor LOL. I would only put the A/c on once up to speed for obvious reasons!
