BIG LONG oil filter?

Ok, got your attention, anyone know of a longer maybe 1 qrt. oil filter for a 455? I use Napa/Wix pretty much exclusively and looked at thier 1049, 1258 but they are still pretty small. Looking at a Baldwin B9 but haven't seen one in person, I've got boocoo room so fitment is not an issue.....thanks, Dave

Any reason why the 1049 isn't big enough?

The B9 will be similar to the 1049.

I've used a Carquest 85049 on a 350 and I think there is a longer one still used on a motor home.

The WIX 51258 is what GMC suggests for their motorhomes with the 455.

Yes, but that is a short, fat filter. The 51049 is the same diameter but longer.

Fun71.....yes you are correct, I've been doing some looking and found the WIX 51049 which is 5.178" long. Most of the others are 4.5" or shorter........ good info for those that have the room, the more oil and filter media the better. Thanks to all that replied.......... Dave

Ok you all know that the 1049 doesn’t have the same filter media as the 1258 right?

I never saw that spec before, and I worked at a NAPA store back in school. Musta been buried in the back pages of the catalog.

If you want cleaner oil, use a Filtermag.

I use a 1243 NAPA Gold filter on mine. Slightly larger than the 1049.
