I have been running an old pertronix that came with my car for 6 years no problems especially once I got rid of the resistor wire, fed it with a straight 12-14 volts and added a summit CD ignition box ....
Here is my 69 350 with Flowmaster 50's 2.25 inch exhaust Flowtech ceramic coated headers , Performer cam and intake , Percy's carbon exhaust gaskets

I had the machine work done at Rocket Racing in Waterford, Wi. They're about 60 miles away and I did the assembly and installation myself.
Very happy with the way it turned out heres a short video of the first start up, still needed to adjust the rockers.

Rob your car sounds very good. What are your estimated numbers, what is your cam specs, if you don't mind me asking. Are you attending any cruise nights at the North Towne Mall for this year?

Thanks Kino, I was told that my set up would make around 400-425HP plus I have a 100HP shot of nitrous. The cam I'm running is a Lunati voodoo 60802, it has 499/510 lift and 268 duration. I am planning on hitting as many local cruises as possible including North Towne. I hope to see you there. I would like to meet some local Oldsmobile owners.
