Hi Everyone, I have a 68-69 olds 455 that I wanted to color match the valve covers to the block. Its is of course the Olds Red. Where is the best place to get paint that will match? thanks in advance.

 

It will probably never match if the paint is existing and older unless you have it scanned by a paint specialist and remixed. Is it original/factory paint?

That being said, Fusick sells Oldsmobile 455 red engine paint. There's another formula from some of the '69 H/O guys that looks more of a dull red/brownish color that may better match old factory paint.

 

Its brand new paint on the block. The damn valve covers were painted to match but the guy who broke my engine in and dynoed it. cooked the vavle covers cause he thought they were to dirty on the inside, and now I have to figure out were to get new paint to repaint them.

 

How does Duplicolor Chrysler industrial red compare to the Olds red? I've been looking for it up here
in Edmonton. Or does someone have the formula to mix the paint?

 

I sprayed the Chrysler color next to Fusick's color on a valve cover. It's pretty close, slightly more orange-ish. Here's a link to my post with the picture... you should be able to open it up to a decent size.
