66 400 A.I.R. what is A.I.R.
I was looking up a Rochester Q-Jet part number 7036250 and found The Carburetor Shop Oldsmobile application chart that listed it for a 66 400 A.I.R. engine. What is A.I.R. ????
Thanks
Thanks

AIR (Air Injector Reactor) was an emissions system that used an air (aka smog) pump ran off a belt that pumped air into the exhaust through tubes that ran to holes drilled in each exhaust port on the heads right before they meet with the exhaust manifolds. Idea was to help better complete the combustion process. I think in CA it was only required of California cars.

A.I.R. (more commonly called a "smog pump") was only used on 1966-67 Oldsmobiles sold in California. It didn't show up again on Olds motors until the late 1970s (though all Olds heads since 1966 have the "bumps" in the exhaust ports).

Thanks I appreciate your help this saved me time and money as someone is trying to say that this carb is for a 66 400 4spd with no mention of smog control of which I didn't think existed in 66.
