62' Starfire 394 water pump replacement

I have a 1962 Starfire with a 394 in it equipped with air conditioning. I'm looking at replacing the water pump. (It's going out) is there a good aftermarket water pump I can use on this?

DK of a currently available new aftermarket but all 1949-62 Oldsmobiles use the same pump with variations for a/c and non-air.

Could you recommend a good place to buy a replacement?

I don't know that replacements are readily available. Craig at Mobileparts might have a lead on an NORS pump. Your only other option is to have yours rebuilt. Some vendors will do this on an exchange basis to reduce turnaround time.

Search for Cardone 58-288 online. Classicoldsmobile site sponsor CarID has stock on them. Summit currently has a small stock on a exchange basis. Fusick also may have stock or the reproductions, call them.

Cardone is the last large rebuilder of these pumps for our cars. For a time they were NLA, glad they are once again rebuilding them.

I just looked and there are several on ebay. Most are for non A/C equipped cars but there are a couple for A/C cars. The A/C pump has eight blades on the impeller while the other pump only has 6 blades. It seems like the A/C pump has a ball bearing while the other has a sleeve but I am not 100% sure on that.
