Saw this on CL and thought you guys would get a kick out of the description. Not reeely sure what it is exactly, but maybe you guys can identify it.

It's a Buick. The external front oil pump, driver side fuel pump, and shape of the oil pan give it away. If you could see the top of the block, it would also show the front distributor.

It is not an Olds because the thermostat housing is wrong and the fuel pump is on the wrong side. There are plenty of other identifying facts but those two are enough.

I knew it wasn't an Olds and didn't really think it was a BBC.

Like you, I knew it wasn't an Olds. The thermostat housing on the intake gave that away, among other things. Same for a BBC. I could tell it wasn't what it was advertised to be, but I didn't know what it actually was.
