455 Oil Pan length

I appreciate the quick response. I'm trying to get all my info together to swap out a 455 into a 63 Dynamic 88 Conv. with a "slim Jim" transmission. The suspension sits a good ways behind the front crossmember, so I was a little concerned. That set back might let me handle it o.k. Has anyone else out there done a similar swap. Would appreciate any ideas. Thank.

I am installing a 425 with a 400 tranny in a 64 Olds 88 converible. I don't think a Slim Jim would hold up very long behind a 455. You would be much better off and have fewer headaches if you put a better tranny behind it. So far I know what does not work for engine mounting. What I am trying now is to make the 65 to later big car mounts work.
The forward mounts are too far forward and the aft are too far back. What I am trying is to make a mount rail from .5 x 1 inch bar stock to pick up the three mounting holes so I can locate the mounts exactly where I want them without notching out the frame. Also the S exhaust manifold works on this setup for the driver's side. I got everything mocked up and even the stock radiator, fan and shroud will work in this car. See the pics in the Big Car forum under 88s. The stock oil pan is the only option here. Even the notches in the front of the pan work with the stock steering links. I tried the Toro pan and no joy without some heavy mods. Dean

455 Oil pan length

Appreciate the input, Dean. I'm still in the information gathering stage right now. Want to have all my facts before I jump in and start. I had planned to use the 400 transmission that is on the 455. I have access to that motor, also a 472 Cadillac and 400 transmission, but figured the 455 might be easier to put in.

Exhaust will drive you back to the 455. With the steering box and the steering knuckle location things are really tight on the driver's side. USAparts.com has a replica S manifold. Take a look at it and see how it angles back and loops around. It will give you an ideal on what it will take to put dual exhaust on this car. The only problem is I don't see anyone that makes the heat shield to go with the S manifold and you will need it. I will send pics of what I come up with. Dean
