455 Flywheel
455 Flywheel
Is there anything tricky about getting the correct flywheel for a 455? I'm converting the car to a 4 speed and want to make sure that I get the right one.
Thanks,
Chris

Only thing I can think of is that if you get an aftermarket flywheel, you may need a longer clutch fork pivot stud/ball to compensate for the slightly thinner flywheel.
Other than aftermatket vs. OEM, they're all the same piece for any '68 & up SBO/BBO.

Wrong. The balance on Aftermarket flywheels can differ from one to another. I know, I just went thru this, they varied by over 50grams and in a different position.
The best gaurantee for a correct one is to use a stock style cast one.

I used an aftermarket and had it bal'd w/ the pressure plate assy prior to install...
I have one if you're interested. Actually I have two I think. Can't use them on the dyno. That's how I found out about the differences in flywheels. Had to buy billet ones, one for a 425 crank, one for a 455 crank. Expensive lesson.
