455 arp main stud kit

455 arp main stud kit

ARP main stud kit came with nuts with integrated washer , also came with separate washers . Do I need to use the separate washers under the nuts even though they have a integrated washer ? ....... Yes I did did have the block line honed ....

Was it align honed with the studs? And if so did they use the washers as well?

Here's the explanation behind what you are being told...

The ARP nut is extremely hard and could gall or deform a steel or iron surface under it. Friction under the nut could vary, which would change the clamping force of the nut. That's why cutlassefi asked if the washers were used during line honing.

The ARP washer provides a hard interface between the steel or iron surface and the nut; this avoids galling or deformation and provides a consistent clamping force.
