455 in '74 GMC 3/4 ton

Imagine my surprise when I opened the hood expecting the venerable 350 chevy! After wiping away some rust, it decoded as a '72 (serif "F") with "J" heads (which I don't think are suppose to be on this). Another curiosity for me was the relief stamping "OLDSMOBILE" on the rocker covers. What years did Olds make these rocker covers? So many of these motors have aftermkt stuff on them now. I remember seeing them, just can't remember what on. Thanks Gurus

That whole motor is probably a 73-74.

If anyone is wondering, you can install a 455 Olds into a 78-87 Chevy/GMC 4x4,and use 64-77 Cutlass headers. They clear the transfer case & everything else.Or you can just install manifolds.

Those A body headers also work with the SBO.
