Except for the bellhousing bolt pattern, EVERYTHING is different between and Olds and Buick 455. They are two completely different motors with different bore and stroke, different castings, and completely different designs.

oh of course, i understand that, but all that needs to be the same is the bolt pattern and mounts to swap it, and i figured since they had bop bolt pattern, i might get lucky and theyd have bop mounts as well, but i guess not, so ill start looking for a 455 olds, thanks guys for your help

Unfortunately, there are no "BOP mounts". There are B-mounts, O-mounts, and P-mounts. The 307 frame mounts work with any Olds motor so long as you use Anchor P/N 2328 rubber motor mounts.

There are no frame brackets available for this swap, they would have to be fabricated. Not that hard if you know how to do it. Other issues would be accessory brackets to get everything to clear. I don't think it would be as easy as an "A Body" swap, however I'm not saying it can't be done. As with anything, where there is a will there is a way.

well what about a 403 swap. My friend has a 77 delta 88 w/ a 403 and its badass. And if im not mistaken, the 403 is a small block and should be a straight swap w/ the 307? easier than the 455?

The Buick 3.8 frame mounts won't work with a Buick 455? I'd still rather have an Olds in an Olds myself...

I would agree, I prefer Olds in Olds. But I'm curious, would the 3.8 mounts work for a Buick 455? Does anyone know? If they would, then for someone who wanted to put a Buick 455 in, all that would be required would be a set of 3.8 frame mounts, which are easy to come by.

I would lurk around the Buick sites and see what they say would work. I'll bet that someone has done this with a LeSabre, or other full size (I believe "D" body).

Swapping from an Old's SM to Old's BB isn't a problem, as done it a few times. If I was going with a different brand engine swap, would be a Chevy, as only thing currently in production. Wouldn't do an Old's 403 engine, as while can be made to run, really don't hold up well for hot rod applications. Found this out the hard way.

I looked again and the Buick 3.8 mounts work with Buick V8s, and the Pontiac 301 mounts work with other Pontiac V8s, particularly the post-'69 ones with additional mounting bosses on the block. I forgot for a minute where I was though, I hang out in other places where these swaps are fairly common. On the upside, Olds 455s seem to be a lot more readily available than Buicks, so you might get lucky trying to unload the Buick for an Olds motor. FWIW, the LeSabre is a B-body like the 88, the Electra is a C-body like the 98 (and the DeVille), and the D-body is an extended, Cadillac-only thing.
