1971 455 w-30 camshaft help

I’m rebuilding a 1971 olds 455 ( Flint Michigan replacement block stamped) looking to change the camshaft to what was in a 1971 W-30 engine - need lift and duration numbers to order the correct cam - upgrading to roller lifters - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

In 1971 the 442 w30 used two different camshafts. One for auto and one for stick shift. Which specifications are you looking for?

The 1971 W30 motors with automatic used two different cams.
Non-A/C cars used P/N 409691, 286/287 deg duration, 61 deg overlap, .474/.472 lift.
A/C cars used P/N 400165, 285/287 deg duration, 57 deg overlap, .472/.472 lift. Note that this is the same cam used in the 1969 H/O and in all 1970 442s (incl W30s) with automatic.

Just to be clear, for 1971 there were THREE different "W30" cams, one for MT, one for AT with A/C, and one for AT without A/C.

so are you going to have a cam made with similar specs to the W30? Of you are adding roller lifters, that means new cam, why not something more custom?

I am posting this image (below) strictly as a 1971 OEM Oldsmobile supplemental image (document) to information which has already been accurately described/presented (above). It's a lousy image, yet it does depict the OEM cam grind, valve timing & color code for each cam (which is groovy).

Additionally, I am posting (as an attachment) information I have pursuant to assisting the OP w/ the engine build i.e. part #s, etc. (which may be beneficial). I think I stole this information from another CO member? Probably, yet it is good information & the purpose of this site is to share information.
