Just tossing it out there. Never know. Sometimes, cars were just used as....cars. Quite a bit of work to save this one, if one wanted a real challenge. I know nothing about the car. The ad shows it in Dacula, Georgia. Little town just NE of Atlanta, between Atlanta and Athens. Comes with a NOM not in the car with J heads, but supposedly comes with a set of better heads if wanted.
Always a shame to see cars get this far gone. Dual Gate. Buckets. Gauges. Real Hurst car. Take just the right person for sure. Needs EVERYTHING. 6500.00 seems very ambitious.
1972 Hurst/Olds Hardtop one of 279 Produced, this car is all original ready for restoration. The car has AC, Dual Gate, and AM Radio. Side glass and rear glass are in good condition, frame is solid and original transmission. The top still has the studs for the half vinyl top and I do have a set of trim for the top that goes with the car (excluding the 2 small covers that go over the trim where the top meets the quarter panel). As shown in the photos the following items need repair or replacing: • Rear Quarter Panel repair behind rear wheels • Floor pan driver side has small pin holes • Roof sail panel where it meets quarter panel has small rust hole • Small rust hole just above rear glass at center top • Interior and headliner needs replacing • Windshield will need replacing I have a non-original motor that I am including with the car, the motor is disassembled and needs to be straight line honed, includes 72 Hurst/Olds original 4 barrel intake, no carburetor. The story behind this motor, it had been rebuilt back in the eighties and had been run then for a short time (I have the build receipts). When I purchased the car with the motor I soaked the cylinders then turned it over by hand before starting. The motor ran strong but had an Edelbrock intake and “J” heads, so I removed the motor to freshen it up and upon removal of the heads I discovered that two cylinders the rings must have been stuck. I disassembled the motor and ordered two pistons to replace the ones that the skirts had rubbed on the cylinder walls. I do have a pair of “Ga” heads or ”Ka” heads your choice and a new Mondello cam that I will let go with the motor as well. Also included is a good front bumper. Buyer must contact me within 12 hours of auction end to arrange payment and final payment within 7 days of auction end. Car will come with a Bill of Sale and GA verified Vin. Car is being sold as is where is. No Warranty.
i have an engine but it's one of those too dang far away cars.i just can't find cars like that around here.actually i did find a 74 hurst but a cat could crawl from the inside out thru the top it was rusted out that bad.
I looked the ad over. That car would need 5000 of engine, 5000 of body, 2000 of hood, 500 of OAI, 2000 of interior, 10000 of paint and 6000 of parts, and that brings, with the car, us to 40,000 which is all a non numbers, great shape 72 H/O could be worth right now. There is no way to not be upside down in this one.
I see AC and remote sport mirror, which oddly enough, are the best things on the car.
Edit, I'm tempted to message him and say "let me know when you're parting it out."
Let's just say it isn't unheard of for me to pay more than I probably should. Heck, some of the most expensive cars I've owned are ones I got for free.
Of course, the easiest way to find something for less money is to buy one at an inflated price first. It's kind of related to the law that as soon as you buy a replacement for the tool you lost, the original materializes at your feet.
