I bought a 1980 true 442 complete but needing alot of work,body not that bad.my question is,is this particular year of 442 worth putting alot of time and money into..i have know idea what there worth.it is the white and gold,supposedly only 343 were made.like i said i really dont know anything about this particular year..thanks for your input.

 

Obviously, if it is a true #'s w-30, depending on options and such, it is a pretty rare car indeed. Is it worth the investment? Unless it needs minimal work, probably not. But, maybe one day. These cars are moving in a positive direction. The key from what I understand with these is to find the best interior possible. Parts are very hard to find as the aftermarket hasn't caught on yet with these and it's hard to find NOS. Pick up the Jan'09 issue of Hemming Muscle Machines. They do a nice piece on the '79 version of these!

 

it has all options except power sunroof,it is a w-30 and the interior is good except the headliner.the car has set for 6 years so most of the work is mechanicle,body has very little surfise rust...thanks for your input.i truthfully dont know what this car is worth...

 

I looked in an old car price guide a #4 about $2000 a #2 about $6500. I would say build it, it probably be worth it in the long run.

Of course a car is only worth what someone will give you for it but according to the articl in HMM, and I believe they may compile their info thru recent auction results and maybe what has sold thru hemmings, the car in #1 may bring around 12k-13k...it's all speculative.

 

The problem with most auction results is that they do not represent the real world. People with more money than brains get caught up with auction fever and it becomes more about winning than about owning the car. People see these unsustainable prices at BJ and think their #4 condition car is also worth $6M ("but it's one of only four Sport Coupes with bench seat and three speed on the column painted Mary Kay pink...").
