'70 original ignition coil markings for the 455?

Did the assembly line original ignition coils in 1970 have "216 B-R" stamped into the metal can?

I have seen several Delco Remy ignition coils with the metal can being reproduced, but none marked with "216 B-R" as shown in the '70 engine assembly manual.

I have what I thought is an original but it is 1115238. I see the 216 in the engine manual and don't see 238 anywhere, maybe it was updated in the parts exchange manual - I'll check that too

My '70 W-30's coil, which I believe (but cannot prove) to be original, is stamped
216
B-R

I know of other people with 216 coils on their cars, some who know their coil is original. Some of these cars are '71 or '72.

The '238 coil was the replacement you'd get from your GM parts counter.

For what it's worth, I have 2 different 1971 Delco parts catalogs which list lots of Delco parts for ALL applications.
-- GM part number 1115238 is referred to as Delco part number D512.
-- Corvette's used the 1115238 (D512).
-- Other Delco coils commonly used on GM cars are D501, D511, D512, D514, and D516.

Just stumbled on this thread. I also have a 216 BR coil which I believe to be original on the W-30 I'm working on.
