1966-67 442 console tachometer retro fit

Hi all

looking to see if anyone has retro fit an aftermarket tachometer in to the original housing?
My original is not working and wondering if I can fit a digital style (to match the Dakota gauges installed) or something new…. Not a big fan of the Dakota but that’s what she came with… some day I hope to get a setup from Ron😎 but for now this will do.

Just FYI, there was no tach on the 66-67 consoles. The 64-65 cars came with a tach. The 1966 cars came with a vacuum gauge - the 1966 tach was the "sidewinder" tach mounted to the LH side of the dash pad. The 1967 cars had nothing on the console and the tach was part of the Rally Pack mounted in the dash (and yes, this was also available on late-66 cars). I'm guessing that you have a 1964-65 style tach housing, but a photo would let us know for sure.

In addition to what Joe said, certain tachs are a direct plug in to the clock hole in the middle of the indicator lights and are a common thing to do, if you went back to original gauges.

Someone substituted that tach for the original vacuum gage. You can send that one out for repair.

In 66 the factory tachometer mounted on the far left of dash pad and it had a smaller face.
