1967 442 convertible. Throwing in the towel
1967 442 convertible. Throwing in the towel
I bought a 67 442 convertible a few years back.
I finally found someone to do the frame-off restoration on it, and after having it sandblasted, it looks as though the body is beyond repair. Every panel needs to be replaced, including floor pans, wheel wells, firewall, and trunk. I’m sitting on a rebuilt 455 rocket, and 400 turbo Transmission, along with two rearends, As well as a complete interior.
Suggestions?

Darwin, I don't want to be negative, but, if you DO decide to abandon project and part the car, I have a 67 442 project that could use some things and I could drive over from Evansville.
Now, what I REALLY think you should do is speak with the daughter of the late Ed Skaff, who is on here as OldsLegacy. Ed was a good man, and a solid 67 Olds guy. He liked the yellow ones. He passed on from pancreatic cancer after a hard long fight in the spring of 18. I think I had the sad honor of being the last guy he sold parts to, as he passed a few days later. His estate is, and his daughter lives, in Charleston, WV, which is doable from Louisville.
Please review this thread. We all here would think it would be damned fantastic for someone to get Ed's projects a good home and on the road.

Koda,
Very much appreciate the advice/information.
I’m going to reach out to her, and see where it goes. Thanks again.

^^^THIS. I don't waste my time looking at east coast cars. The money you save in rust repair more than pays for shipping a car from the desert southwest.
Also check out oldsmaniacs addiction relapse thread for some inspiration, he makes bringing these cars back look easy
