69 442 radiator specs.

Hello everyone im trying to determine if i had a 3 or 4 core radiator in my 1969 442 auto. I dont have the top plate but i do have the lower rubber mount pads still in place. Anyone have measurements on those. thanks in advance.

On your 69, you should have 4 of the same insulators. IIRC, 3" is for the 3 core, and 3.5" is for the 4 core. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct that. GM p/n 391320 for the 4 core, and p/n 391321 for the 3 core.

Going on memory here. I researched this a few months ago and my brain could be foggy on this.

I have been trying to figure this out myself. I have a 69 442 with original 400 engine and turbo 400 transmission. Also has car air conditioning. I believe this all plays into what radiator was required for the car. I have attached two pictures. One is from the Olds parts catalog. The second is from the assembly manual. The parts catalog shows two different parts numbers, 3014745 for 400 engine, except C.A.C, Y72, or V01. The second part number is 3017108 for 400 engine with C.A.C, except Y72 or V01. C.A.C is car air conditioning. Y72 is the heavy duty cooling and generator package (option). V01 is the heavy duty radiator option. So the assembly manual shows some different options. Since the 442 is model 4400, the table shows five different part numbers and the plate codes with those parts. EC is part 3017107 for the V01 option. Other radiator codes shown are FE, FB, and FA. It appears FA was the standard with part number 3014742. Or maybe that is standard transmission? the M40 option is the turbo 400 auto transmission; so the code for that is FB with part number 3014748.
So in summary, mine is probably the FB code. Although there is some conflicting information, I would think the assembly manual is probably more accurate. On the other hand, I am no expert so judge for yourself.

As I recall, '69 model year 4-4-2 cars with A/C (C60), heavy duty cooling (Y72), or the heavy duty radiator (V01, which was used on cars with the 3.91 or 4.33 differentials; I don't know if the V01 option could simply be ordered regardless of differential ratio) options got the 4-core radiator and all others got the 3-core radiator.

I don't have measurements. My '68 4-4-2 with 400CID, AC, MT, PB, PW, 55Amp Alt has the wider rubber insulators, both top and bottom, along with the top plate for a 4-row rad However, somewhere along the way before I entered the picture, the rad was swapped out for a three-row unit.
