windshield butyl thickness 69 442

I was wandering if any of you Olds enthusiasts out there could tell me what thickness butyl ribbon to use on my replacement windshield for my 1969 442? The old windshield was .282" and the new one is .199". I believe I should use 3/8" but am unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do your homework. I've made that mistake before and the upper chrome strip had a big gap. I would think you would want to use thicker ribbon, like a 7/16? 3/8 sounds too small to me.

The only two sizes I could find are, 5/16 or 3/8.. I used the 3/8 on my Elco back window. Did it on a warm day, and you can push it in pretty good. Make sure you don't push to hard, and at the edge, and break it.
