I just received 12 Bolt Oldsmobile W-27 rear end cover for my 1968 442. None of the bolt holes line up....wondering if the Parts Place sent me the Chevy 12-bolt C clip one?

The part is case with numbers 406785 on outside...not sure if Olds 10/12 and Chevy 12 bolt all had this number on the reproductions? I'm assuming the 70 W-27 cover will work on the 68 Olds 12 bolt?

Sounds like they sent you the Chevy cover. I have an aftermarket W27 cover on my '68 Type-O rear (can't remember where I sourced it from). Are you sure your rear is a Type-O and hasn't been swapped w/ a Chevy 12-bolt (or is it a Canadian car)?

 

Yeah pretty positive...I have the axle pulled apartment and it has pressed in bearing and not C clips. Cover is also the "O" Oldsmobile style.
