Title for 442
#4
Could be coupe, Cutlass or 442 depending on the state and how it was applied for by the first owner. A 1969 442 would be correctly titled as 442 because it was a specific model that year vs an option/upgrade to another model, e.g. 72 and later.
Depending on your DMV, they may change it to 442 if desired. Either way it probably doesn't matter as long as the VIN is perfectly correct in every aspect.

First of all, what the DMV puts on the title is no guarantee that they knew what they were doing. The only thing that matters is the VIN. My very first 442, a 1968 with a 344... VIN, was labeled a "Cutlass" on the title by the state of MA. Don't lose a lot of sleep over this, so long as the VIN on the title matches the one on the car.

In 2019 my 69 Cutlass S Convertible got registered in Mass from Maine
The Mass RMV was/is STILL Lost
They insisted that my car was a 69 Cutlass (NOT S) and just 2 Door Coupe
I argued it's a Cutlass "S" Convertible
Finally a manager got involved and said NO Cutlass "S" was made in 69 as per their books ..
So now my car is titled & registered as a 69 Cutlass Convertible
I lost the "S" battle but won the Convertible part (vs 2 door coupe)
my VIN - 336679Mxxxxxx
