Stripes painted or not?

I tried this question in another area with no response so I will ask here.

For 1971 442's were the stripes painted or vinyl?
I believe with my hood there is a stripe down the middle of the hood with a small 3 stripe down the sides. If this is correct does anyone know where can you buy the stencil or stripe kit?

tehy were painted, try the Parts Place or Fusicks - they may have stencils, they have them for the W30's but not sure about others

Yes, that hood is correct for a Cutlass 'S'. Only difference is the Cutlass Supreme hoods did not have the louvers.

The only factory-installed vinyl stripes on the 68-72 cars were the Rallye 350 and the 72 H/O. The rest were paint.

*Most* 71-72 Supremes did not have the louvered hoods. I've documented a number of factory '72 4 speed Supreme hardtops (350 and 455) that do have them. I haven't figured out a pattern for which ones did or did not get them - yet - but as my registry continues to grow, a trend may emerge.

Thanks everyone. However it looks like no one offers these stripes.

If you go to the factory Assembly Manual you can find the exact layout and dinmensions for the stripes. They are painted on.

Regarding the louvers in the hood. I can not speak to the '71 but they were only available on the W-29 442 package in '72.
