Red lenses on door panels

'71 442 - are these reflectors or are they supposed to light up with the dome light?

A little known fact- those are GM parts bin specials. You will also find them on many 61-64 Pontiacs, and I've seen them on some Buicks. Buick and Chevy generally used the round ones though.

Like the others said, just reflectors.

If you need to replace them, go to a wrecker. They are also on the 98 regency broughams. You can pick them up for a few bucks in good shape. If you want to spend more....you can get them new from Fusicks for about 30 bucks EACH!!!

BE CAREFUL about the tabs when you take them off. They don't like to be bent more than twice before they snap off. So when you remove them, the next time you should bend them is on the reinstall. If you break the tabs, I guess you could hot glue them to the lower carpet and no one would be the wiser. If you're freshening the interior, dye the lower door carpet to match the floor before you attach the reflector.

If you break yours or need replacements, I've got some I can dig out for you that are in decent shape.

Thanks Allan. I was just curious. Fortunately, mine are perfect so I won't need to do anything right now.

So what happened? Did you buy some new ones or something? If you still need some decent ones, I can check for you. Don't forget, we were discussing this a little over a year before you found us.

People need to start scouring the yard for these then if they are the same. They could be sold for much less than 30 around here!

That's what I do. From the wrecker they want about 5.00. I don't like taking ratty ones, but if they have acceptable wear I'll take em. Sometimes I'm lucky and they'll bundle stuff for one price for me at some yards.

Yup, we are both lucky! Are you looking for a set of these? I can check my stash for you. They will be nice, but not 'perfect'.

I've got a small box full of these reflectors. Some of them are pretty nice. I'll make a deal for anyone that wants one or more.
