rebirth 442

I have just recently hauled my 85 442 from my folks house to mine to restore it. Well, I rebuilt the 307 "9" about four years ago and had to leave the car behind because of military reasons. I pulled the engine out and it looks really good, but some of the gaskets are leaking. My Question is. Is it worth replacing the 307 with a 350 Chevy and will it bolt up?

A 350 chevy will not bolt to your mounts. You would have to change frame and engine mounts. If you have a dual pattern bolt pattern 200-4R it will bolt up to a chevy. I would suggest finding an Olds 350 or 403 which make really good power and will bolt right up and keep your 442 all Oldsmobile. I would do the 403 with 72 or earlier heads to up the compression and nobody can tell the difference between it and the 307 until they try to race you!
