What can I do to get this to pop up?

I have pushed down on hood while turning ****, pulled hood up while turning, it just won’t pop up.

Frustrated.

 

You probably have a drifted pin. Which side is it on?

This is A Bitch to fix. The roll pin has possibly drifted off center. There's a method to snap it and break it. It is also possible to reach up with the world's smallest channel locks, or maybe even by hand, and push the pin back centered. Helps to have an assistant push down and rotate the assembly as needed.

It is on the drivers side. I did try to see if crawling under the car and reaching up was an option, but there is way too much in the way. . I keep going into my garage and turning the lock in hopes it manically pops up… no luck so far.

 

When I had that problem, I carved small wood blocks to fit on the sides of the raised portion of the hood lock handle. I used large vice grips on the wood blocks and forceably turned the lock. This bent the pin and released the hood. (I used bits of rubber glove between the blocks and the handle to be sure there was no slippage.)

I then replaced the pin. You can be sure that I used thread locker on the new pin.

A friend and I did what I suggest on my car on the left side. It is possible.

 

I just got it opened. I placed a towel over the lock and twisted with vice grips and was able to break the pin which released it.
