Last fall I bought a very rough '69 442, it's rusty, but a numbers matching 4spd car. Though it is rough, it runs and drives well and I'd like to put some miles on it before I restore it.

The radiator core support is gone to the point it will not hold a battery, also the front of the hood is damaged. The car came with a good extra hood, but it is for a '70. The '69 and '70 hoods look the same but latch differently. I'd like to use the '70 hood for now, does anyone know if I can use a core support from a '70 and the '70 hood I already have, and still have all of the fenders and grill bolt up? I know where I can get a good '70 core support.

From photos on line the '70 looks very much like my '69 core support, aside from the obvious latch difference.

My guess is that the two should interchange?

Ted, thanks for asking.

In the end they were different enough that I just found a good one for a '69. I will have to either modify the latch area under the front of the '70 hood I have or just find a correct hood for a '69. Without pics it is hard to explain, but not only is the latch assembly different between the two years but how the grill mounts to the core support is also slightly different. While I was researching I lucked into finding one from a wanted ad I had posted.
