Newbie w/ '68 442

Have been checking out the site and decided to join. Have had my '68 442 for about 2 years now. It is a 77,000 original mile car, but sports a '71 455. I tracked the history back to original owner, 5 in all and luckily all took great care of it.

Look forward to learning more here...

WELCOM ABOARD!

I'm new to this site, too, and it is pretty neat. I have a '68 as well - a convertible with a bench seat but with an auto trans. Have fun reading all the responses and input. There's a lot of technical and detail knowledge at this site, as well as some great pictures, that I'm sure you will enjoy! Randy C., Olympia, WA

My grandfather always droves Olds' and although I grew up in a mopa family (and still own/love mopars), I had to get a 442. In fact, I looked for over 2 1/2 yrs for a '68 with the right combo. I like the '68 best because the grill (to me) looks very Oldsmobile and it wa the last year w/ ignition key in the dash, not column. My particular car got my attention with the 4spd/bench as well as rare Turquise color and being a Sport Coupe too.

I know to each his own, but that's how mine ended upin the garage.

Hey, welcome guys. Randy, really nice looking vert.

For you other guys, if you go on photobucket and upload some pics of your cars on there, you can copy the html line and paste it right in the text and it will show up.

Here's a pic of my 442 going off to sandblasting prior to knowing that the body was full of rust holes and too far gone to justify repairing. In any event, it was a bench seat 4-speed car as well. Which to me is pretty cool.

Tom,

Looks like a nice ride, too bad it can't be saved? Are you parting it out?

I was fortunate to find a donor body/car for really cheap, so I'm just transferring the entire drivetrain over to that one.

Hey 4speed, welcome. A newbie here also. My father and I are the proud owners of a 69 442, for more info on ours see 1969 442 newbie. Would like to learn back and forth and share info with you. I can tell you straight up, if your unsure of what you have and want to decode order a 68 olds book from Yearone.com, it helped me to start decoding the VIN and find out where ours came out of (factory) etc. The people on here on pretty flippin knowledgable so stay tuned, keep in touch. Congrats on your "girl".
