OK, now that I introduced myself, here is my first question. My '69 442 front grille's and headlight housings are currently all black(albeit faded and peeling). Most pictures I have seen show them being black with silver around the rim and in between the headlights, although I have seen a few restored cars that were all black. So the question is, did these grille's ever come from the factory all black in '69?

 

The pics are correct with the silver around the back of the headlight covers and silver around the flat part of the grill. However a 69 H/O are all black. Before you yank them out be aware that the ears that the screws go through are fragile and you'll see many with this part partially or totally fubar.

 

Great, thanks. I kinda figured as much, just wasn't sure if maybe it was a W-30 thing. I guess someone must have just sprayed it all black at some point.
So any idea what correct paint colors I would need to redo these?

BTW, good tip about the plastic ears being fragile, unfortunately most of mine are already fubar and had been jury-rigged with metal strapping to hold them on. Oh well, they work for now. One day I will replace them.

 

Let me dig around I may have some only partially fubar. What other 69 parts could you use. I've saved some [just for the sake of it.] Not anything perfect, but it may be better than what you have.
