My Dads 66 442 video

We took this a year ago at a chassis dyno. The car is from SD and is very solid. The original 400 engine is blown but rebuildable. It has the six pack, dash tack, 4 speed, 3.90 rear, white buckets non console. I found the build sheet under the carpet it is black and nasty but you can still make out the 442 option.
My Dad will be 69 this fall and he drives like this regularly. I hate to ride with him. I have been on some real nail biter rides in the last 40 + years. We put a big block Chevy in it until he gets the 400 rebuilt.

Nice, Heck I'd ride with him. If he's lived that long he must be a good driver.

Paul Newman raced the 24 hr. at Daytona in 2005 at 80,

My Dad has a 71 GTO with a 540 BBC 702HP that will loosen your bowels in no time. It is a great thing to cure constipation. I Have ridden in 11 second cars before and they seem like school buses compared to the GTO. He did a burn out down my suburban street that looked like a funny car at the Nationals. He pi$$ed off all my neighbors, he didn't think it was a big deal. I told him he doesn't quite understand what the scene looked like from the sidewalk, it was unbelievable. It caused quite a problem.

Whoa there a minute, that's not a Mopar engine you're talking about. That's a Tri-Carb you're describing. We don't need no stinkin' Tri-Powers or Six-Packs.

Very cool! Build sheet? Not a Lansing built 442, I presume? I'd love to get a scan of the build sheet if that is possible. Also a pic of the firewall data plate? Yeah, I know, I'm nosy.....

I got another video but I deleted the pics. It was one of those cars that sat in a garage for umpteen years with the motor lying on the floor, then a friend of my Dads bought it and did the same thing. The build sheet is 90% black from tar or something nasty. The car is from Rapid city SD. The bad news is that my Dad and I have had a falling out and I haven't talked to him in over a year. So I won't be getting any pics of it anytime soon. Maybe I'll try to break the ice.

I know it is none of my business, but I feel compelled to encourage you break the ice. Nothing to do with cars.

It's one of those things

I appreciate the concern,
It's tough to force a relationship with someone who doesn't really care one way or another. He does his own thing. We went 10 years the last time. He is hostle and still gets into fights at 69 years old, I tried to break one up. It's a long story.
I don't want any trouble, life is too short.

My middle son and I went thru long span without talking (a reverse issue from yours) Working on cars has started to bring us together again. I only do burn outs in parking lots. Its almost laughable watching a 57 Olds with a connie kit doing a block long burn out. picture doesn't fit the minds eye very well. Speaking of which I promised a picture in my 455 engine swap thread of the 57 doing a burn out. Look for it in the spring.

I will be taking my first stab at body work on my 48 Olds and will be asking lots of questions. You will hear from me

I'd love to see a 57 doing a burnout

I love 57 Oldmobiles, especially when the tires are smoking.

I love ANY Oldsmobile when the tires are smoking...

as a general rule....I enjoy it more when they are not mine....therefore not costing me anything but the acrid smell of tire smoke....when they look this good....well you just can't!!
