Looking to purchase a 67 442 question

I am looking at purchasing a 67 442 convertible with VIN 33677z121523. Where can I get information to decode the VIN? And should I learn how to decode the cowl tag. Have not owned a 442 in the past.so I am new to this and would like to understand where to learn more.
Would like to make sure I am buying a true 442 with the correct drive train and options?
Thank you.

That will be a Fremont,Ca built car and none of the option codes will be on the cowl tag. It will have color of the car, interior color etc. but nothing telling it's a 442 or not.

It's not a 442, a 442s vin number must start off as 338 for 1967.

As 66-3X2 442 mentioned its a Fremont car, Code Z in the vin. Because the real 442s that were built there are virtually unverifiable. It's the go to vin code for fakes.

Your first problem is that the VIN you posted isn't a valid 1967 Oldsmobile VIN. You are missing a character, as the VIN is 13 characters long. It is either 336677Z121523 or it is 338677Z121523. This is important since only the latter of those can possibly be a 442 (however this VIN alone is not a guarantee). The other problem is that since this is a Fremont, CA car, the 5V code on the cowl tag that proves the car is a 442 was not used by Fremont and thus there is no way to prove the car is really a 442. Of course, if the VIN is really 336677Z121523, then it cannot be a 442.
