This is a 442 I am interested in that is located in West Chester Pa.

Can you folks look her over and let me know what is right and what is wrong? I'm not sure about the air cleaner? Thanks in advance.

Four speeds came with an open element, though I don't know if that one is factory or aftermarket. the breather on the valve cover appears to be taped over with black electrical tape. It may have an electric fuel pump as indicated by the non factory pressure gauge installed inline. The wheels are 1970 or newer as they have trim rings, and are at least "7 wheels as opposed to the available 6" in '67. '67's were 350 hp not 360, as this is not a W30.

Car looks nice. But has Cutlass Supreme seat covers for hardtop body not post body, aftermarket replacement power antenna and poor fitment of rh lower fender.

I believe that car is over-priced by a fair amount, like at *least* 10k. Even with the original drive-train which is not mentioned one way or another. No pic of the cowl tag either? No pics of the undercarriage? Leads one to believe there probably are more than a few major things amiss. Not things that a savvy seller with nothing to hide would omit.
For that money, it should have correct wheels, correct air cleaner, correct chambered tailpipes, correct seats, and be able to make coffee.
Too many unknowns to make much of a meaningful evaluation.

Armrests/ door open handles are not paddle type
maybe that was a Supreme thing

Some hokified wiring there - ign ballast resistor on firewall.
No dipstick at all? Meh.

"wrong" horn relay/ junction block

Holley Carb
Pts off for rubber pressurized fuel line

Incorrect spare stowage, no jack?
Why not this -
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151221453373...84.m1555.l2649

Correct looking V---G head stamp on a correctish E block
I like the post body and the no-console shifter with a pretty boot.
Probably should not let the keys dangle on the dash of a classic.

For $32K, one can get cars with better attention to detail. And a tri-carb maybe.

It's a Cutlass Supreme hardtop thing.

But these armrests/doorhandles are correct for the post coupe body.

Engine color looks way off. For that kind of cash the engine should have been pulled and painted. At the least, cowl tag should be scrutinized...

Late engine unit number for a Jan car. Can't say impossible, but a red flag as far as being the original engine. (I think I beat Henry to this!)

If it was my money {and its not} I would look at the 67 4dr. It looks to be a more honest car and will be less of a hassle while owning it. Not as showy as the 442 but a cleaner car. It should sell in the 9k category.

Yes it is. The stance is great too. But do you like it enough to overspend on it?

Here's mine. Which is comparable and more correct than that one and I picked it up for under $20K.

Yet another 67 442 post coupe with hardtop seatcovers! Of course the hdtp seat pattern is much more attractive than the correct post seatcover design.

I think it has only been in the last 5 years or so that the Cutlass or Sport coupe seat covers have been reproduced and the only source I know of is OPG/PUI. From my experience the quality/fit is not that great. Before then they would need to be sewn from scratch which equals more $$$. The same is true for the door panels. I only know of one company that does a good repro with the heat stamping and that is SMS.

If it's a red 67 post coupe your after, I can put you in touch with a co worker who has current ownership of one of my former cars - cali black plate, interior re-done, SS1's, duals, cali smog pump, AC buckets console. No it's not a 442, but then again you'll save thousands...pics when I purchased it years ago. PM me if interested, also in PA.

Correct. When this car was put back together, the sport coupe interior was not readily available. I personally would rather have the correct stitching since it is much less common.

If you would like a red 67 442 hardtop with original paint I would sell mine for about 27.

I am not looking for a 67 442 in particular, but when I saw this car I thought it was beautiful. If I wanted to overpay I would never have asked for help from the experts on this site. Better safe than sorry. Thanks to everyone for the help.
