Gawd-awful '69 on eBay

From the front, it looks okay. But from the rear . . .

Aw, c'mon. That wing doesn't just make it go faster, it makes it sell faster, too!

That spoiler looks a bit outsized compared to a 69 H/O spoiler, which is what I guess it's supposed to emulate. At least paint it so it will blend in and not stick out like a busted thumb.

It's said Easter is a day of miracles. It must be, when I'm agreeing with Diego.

You agree with me more often than you want to admit.

And, besides, it's Passover - time to break bread!

It's the one thing that would drive me away from a car that's decent in every other way. Attaching a spoiler to a car like this is akin to spraying a vehicle "resale red" and anything else that dealers do to disrespect the integrity of a car in the name of money and poor taste. "Perfumed pig" comes to mind....

Taking a ride in this one could get interesting if someone doesn't fix the accelerator pedal which is upside down and falling off.

Ha Ha. That's funny. Don;t know how I missed it. It's just propped there.

Makes you wonder what other critical parts of the car are "just propped there."

Again little details like this can be wheighed out. I mean when I looked at it., it was under 12 k I don't think you can build it for 12. I put 12k into a rust bucket and I still lack an interior ., but by choice, and a slew of other things. So you buy the car take the wing out weld the holes shut and paint the trunck to match. Really not a big deal at all. Probably under 1k to do. And the accelerator pedal can be fixed . This is a car from 1969 not 2013. Not everyone paints the car factory color. Fyi painting a car red is a choice that is not cheap. Red paint is a color that cost a lot more than anyother right next to pearl colors, also there is a lot of waste with red also yellows. So painting a car to re sell it would not be cost effecient with red. It's like houses. When people where fliping houses floors where laid over old floors etc etc. Same things with cars. That's why I like to start with a rust bucket . I know what went it and what I did and don't have to worry about nothing.

Again a good eye when buying a car that's been fixed goes a long way.

Yes, in about ten seconds by pushing the retaining pin back in through the holes in the pedal and the lever, and through the spring.

The fact that this simple step was not taken by a professional antique car dealer, who should know, says a lot about the potential for "surprises" in the rest of the car.

buying an old car is like buying a used car. i went to go look at a 69 nova a while back while i was still in high school. the guy wanted 5k. Much more than my budget but my dad knew i was serious about getting into the autobody industry. So we went and i let this guy give us the whole sales pitch this and that. We played stupid untill it came to negotiating. Then bam i said i want to talk to your sales manager. he looked at me and my dad. he came out i took him to the car pointed out all the flaws. among them was mis matched heads, leaking fuel bowls with visible stains on the intake, shotty body work which really pissed them off as the list kept rolling. I walked back in and told them you guys want 5k i dont see it. All i see it begginners project put on the lot and it shows. You guys want it gone you will get 2500 thank you for your time and we walked out. they called me back a month later and said they would do 3k. By this time i had gotten my rust bucket 72 cutlass It had rusted floors, trunk, fenders, the trans leaked, it had busted interior, and rotted out headers, but for 2k it ran it drove , i did drive it for a bit like that but i knew what i was getting. The classic car market is one of the biggest scams because there are so many idots who fall for it and i dont feel sorry for them. An educated buyer has the upper hand. Im an @$$hole when it comes to buying and negotiating. i have been escorted out of dealrships and some of them actually called me back months later when they could not sell the car and i offered them more than what it would go for in auction. Knowing the ins and outs helps . The moral of the story dont expect top buy a classic restored car and it be perfect unless it was done by a reputable shop and chances are it will cost more than 30k . If you buy it plan on doing some re vamping and serious inspection.

Here's a few more now that I've looked at the photos again.
The seller claims all new suspension and I have doubts and he claims all new belts but the AC belt is missing. The tacky tape that covers the expansion valve bulb on the evaporator is missing, the vacuum canister has no vacuum lines connected to it and an HEI distributor has been installed so I question if it was done correctly. It's not a bad looking car aside from the spoiler and the flat black stripes on the hood and who knows what the reserve is but I see a lot of signs that there could be additional issues with this car. I'm surprised to see all of these issues given the facts the seller claims about themselves.

"With our knowledge and love of great cars, combined with an inventory selected by the owner and our experienced staff by meticulously examining the detail of each car from chassis to the hood, we can find you the car of your dreams.

Maybe this isn't someone's dream car or the seller isn't as meticulous as they claim. Seller also claims all new hoes but I didn't see any women in the pictures so clarification is definitely required.
