Final Time

As a car fixer upper and seller for the past 20 years - mostly with AMC - I in the last 5 years have sold out of them as they just didn't bring money as rare as they are. Within that time I've had the pleasure of owning 2 79 Hurst Olds and 1 88 Cutlass Supreme. After I sold my black-gold Hurst Olds I felt nauseous when it drove away. I wanted a bucket list car to keep for myself and growing up in the 80's a 85-87 442 was a bucket list car. Took me 6 months to complete this 86 442. Colored changed from black to white - I know white wasn't available in 86 but in the south black is so hot and hard to keep clean. Super solid except floor board where the t-top probably leaked for 30 years. I can see why these cars were expensive as they are loaded and run and ride super smooth. I deleted the smog pump and plumbing and even installed a manual quadrajet carb. In South Carolina we don't have inspection. Still much too do eventually - Instrument cluster surround replaced - air conditioner fixed - power seat motor - windshield hairline crack - etc will need attention-. but will say this is a car I want to keep and when I'm much older then I'll let it go. I can appreciate how well these cars were built for sure. It has been fun.

That car looks darn good. I've always considered them good drivers and comfortable too. Your hard work shows.

Ah In looking back at my thread of "Final Time" got a call from a customer who said, "Hey a 1980 442 for sale 15 miles away." What do you think I did.

New windshield, rebuilt 350 Rocket from a 70 Olds Cutlass, new transmission, tires, brakes, spindals, bearings, radiator, exhuast, carburetor. This survivor runs almost perfect!!!1

I have owned probably 15 G body cars (and from all 4 car divisions that had a G body!) out of all of them, my favorite was the 87 442, and a 85 T-Top cutlass. I love the way the G body rides and drives, they are easy to work on, easy to modify, and use to be cheap to buy and build. I’d say you have a winner!
