Smile Daily drivers

Do any of you drive your classics daily? The reason I ask is that I love my 442 (1987) and I still drive it daily.

No way with my current stable, although if the raccoon infested '71 I can get runs, who knows???
If I do some critter training I could wear a live raccoon hat driving it, too bad thay have no anteena or I could have a live raccoon tail on that.
I drove 50's cars everyday for years, everybody called me Richie Cunningham.
An '87 is a new car to me man.

The Vista Cruiser was supposed to be a daily driver to goof around with until I caught the feared and dreaded "Mightaswells".

If I ever get it done, I will probably drive it a lot, but not as a daily driver. I would only drive it on nice days during the summer. Since I work at different locations each week, I would only drive it to work if I wasn't in any part of a ghetto. I would think it would get driven no more than 3 or 4 thousand miles a year, but who knows.

I plan on it, my wheels should be done shortly. So, I will be taking it back and forth to work. I don't have a "collector" so I do not have a problem driving it. Otherwise, why own a car if you can't enjoy it.

Of course it will be parked in the winter. But the rest of the year it is fair game.

Absolutely. Not afraid to drive it anywhere. Certainly not a classic, but a classy ride it is!

I currently use an '87 442 as a summer daily driver, rain or shine. Prior to this car, I used an '85 442 as a daily driver year-round, which was a shame, as Old Man Salt detroyed it. But I don't feel too guilty, as it was already showing rust when I bought it, and these G-bodies are just not worth restoring. Worth preserving the mint ones, but not restoring the rusty ones.

My '70 only sees about 600 miles a year.

I alternate between my 68 cutlass and 90 454ss. I have no choice that's all I have. I drive one while my wife drives the other and we switch every week.

nope never have used it daily. If one does, that's ok with me, just hard to do here in Chitown all year around with the salt. Though some folks think I'm nuts driving a supercharged '04 Marauder all year as a DD

I drive it whenever I can, but I have an 04 S10 ZR5 as a daily. Personally with the gas mileage difference I would rather be driving the 442. It's not all that different and is much better to drive in my opinion.

My daily driver is a 70 cutlass supreme SX. I am slowly using it up and I feel guilty about it, it was perfect when I got it and now its getting worn and breaking down more regularly. I just can't stop! Its so fun to drive.

Yes that is my car in my sig. I first purchased it in 1995 when I was working at a speed shop in Addison Il. I already owned a 455 powered 1970 post coupe that I drove daily. He came in looking for some stuff and asked if I wanted to buy it. I ended up taking it off his hands for $2500 due to some body issues with the passenger door and fender and the rod knock.
It sat for a year until I got the time to do the engine swap and like an idiot I junked the post. I regret that to this day, but I just didn't have the space for it.
I drove the car for 2 more years and had to sell it because I had been out of work for 6 months.
Fast forward 8 years later the guy that bought it from me needed to sell it but couldn't because he never transferred the title and lost it. So he had to hunt me down to get the replacement and I ended up buying it back from him. He had replaced the door and fender from another 70, fixed the head liner, dropped in a running engine and trans and installed the OAI hood. I had to "persuade" him to give me the mirrors but he coughed them up.
It was still in brown primer so I got a cheap Maaco paint job so it would be one color for now until I can get settled and have a place to tear it apart and do it up right.

if my 72 wasnt such a moody "lady" I'm sure I would have driven her more over the years.

I have never gotten a full season out of her in the 15 years we have been together.

I know I can hop in my truck, hit the key and drive it home.

This baby was my daily driver for a 50 mile round trip commute to the office for about 20 years. Olds dependability got me hooked.

I drive my Custom Cruiser every day. I tend to drive it on weekends too because it is so much fun. When I had my new cars (Infinitis, Acuras) I would always park them for the weekend and drive an Oldsmobile.

After 6 mo unemployment a few years ago, and old car values in the dump, I decided to ditch the Acura and drive the Toronado. 2 weeks later I was working again, so I bought the wagon to save the miles on the Toronado and Delta 88.

I love it, and never think about the Acura ever, and it was nice! A TL Type S with Nav, etc., but I am more happy with the Oldsmobile every day.

Yep... what Jamesbo said! I have never owned anything but an Olds. I've had several different types and years, but always an Olds. Never had any major problems with any of them, they always got me where I needed to go. I had 2 old 72's back in the 80's and early 90's that I drove until the frames broke in front of the drivers side rear tire! They were still running strong! Then they went to my nephew's field and he pulled the engines and scrapped the cars. Wish I'd have known then what I know now! I'd have stripped those babies!! Never thought I'd have another 72!

My 2001 Intrigue is the "newest" car I've ever owned, and I bought it in 2007.

I just wish my 70 was finished so I could drive it. One day. I'm looking for another G-body for a dd, we will see.

I drive a little truck every day, maybe I should put an Olds engine in it.

well right now my '85 442 is a daily driver... put like 2 thousand miles on it this month... suprisingly you get it on straight highway and it'll do like 20mpg... averages out to like 18mpg... not bad at all since i'm only doin 60mph :P and draft the big rigs (paint is messed up anyways). got the alignment done, new kyb gr2 shocks, and new BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235/60/R15's

I don't blame you Jeffrey, I would drive a wagon like yours too all the time if I didn't live in the rust belt.

I used to drive a 67 Impala as my daily car for three years, from 2002-04. Actually had a 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder and it was still a pig on gas. But the good thing was that I did not have a car payment!
