ST = style
66 = model year
33817 = Olds 2 door hardtop
Lan = Lansing build
31266 = Fisher Body sequence number
TR = trim
080-C = black vinyl custom sport seat (bench with center fold down armrest)
J-J paint = forest mist
W= tinted glass windshield only, opton A02
2L= body option group 2, L=floor shift 4-speed (M20 or M21)
5V=body option group 5, V=442 trim

You did not tell us the codes at the top which give production date.
I assume this is the car, which you started another thread about recently:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsm...5fTrucks#v4-45

Next time, we can help easier if you give us the full information that you have, please.
07C means produced third week of July. Since this is after the announcement date of December 1966, the car could have been produced as L69 (Tri Carb 442, vs. L78, 4 barrel 442). In your other thread we already discussed the correct and incorrect parts on the car as far as we could tell from the ebay photo.

Vin #

Should the number stamped on the pad of the head match the sequence number on the VIN on a 1966 442?

Nope. It's the engine unit number, assigned when the engine is built - before the car VIN sequence number is assigned. The Protect-O-Plate is the Rosetta Stone that ties the engine and trans unit numbers to the VIN. The VIN derivative stamping on the engine block didn't start until the 1968 model year.

Is there an option code on the cowl plate for a 66 cutlass 442 if it is a L69 or W30?
