Is this the correct carb for my 442

Hello everyone, I have a 69 442 with auto trans. Is this the correct carb for my car? 7029251 RU 0349 . I know that 7029251is correct but i cant seem to find information on the RU meaning and the date. My Fisher body tag indicates the car was made: May 03. (03E). If someone was looking at originality would this Carb be correct? I dont want to send it out for restoration if its not correct.
Thanks, Scott

Scott, I'm not an expert with carburators so one of the guru's will have to chime in to help say if this is correct for your car or not. My references shows that RU is the assembly plant and the 0349 keys out as the 34th day of 1969. So is a carb being built the first week of February too early for a car that was assembled in the last week of May is the question. John

03E is the fifth week of March, 1969. The digits are the month, the letter is the week on the cowl tag date code.

0349 carb date code is the 34th day of the calendar year 1969, which would be Feb 3. That's a while before the assembly date of the car, but not an unheard of period of time. Typically components would have date codes within a month of the production date, but up to 90 days prior has been documented.

I believe the broadcast code on your carburetor should be "RJ" and not RU. As well, the block on my '68 4-4-2 is dated "304" which I interpret to mean the 304th day of 1967, or 11/1/67. The car wasn't built until the first week of April 1968, a full 5 month separation. I know it's unusual, but I also know the block is original to the car as it has been with the family since new and the VIN code is stamped into the pad on the forward driver side of the block. Even though most parts are dated from about two months before the car was built, to the build week, I tend to take a more liberal look at dated parts to be as much as six months before the build date of the car. And there are some real special cars where the date separation is even more, but they are real special cars!

Ahh, as long as the carburetor code is before the vehicle production date and within the same model year you're good.
