Mounts on column and holds nylon "switch" that part of harness attaches to. The slots are for adjustment so when moving the gear selector, the correct electrical contact is made: neutral safety, reverse lights, etc. If "switch" is in WRONG location, car probably won't start due to incorrect contact. Commonly referred to as "Neutral Ssfety Switch" but actually controls more than that.

Hey Bob, Where is Great Mills, MD? Also, I dig your avatar pic of the '72. I'm in the process of doing a frame-off on a '72 and it will be done as a "Day Two" style resto. Is that a pic of one of your cars (I see the MD tag)? Beside the '72, I also have a '69 W31 that I do some Nostalgia drag racing with and show from time to time. It is the original N.H.R.A. F/S that was raced as a new car and sponsored by Anderson Olds in Baltimore. Until next time..... Dave.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. Great Mills in St. Mary's county, about two hours south of Baltimore. If you take the Baltimore Beltway (695) to 95 South to the Washington Beltway (495) to Rt 4 South (Pennsylvania Ave) and take Rt 4 until it ends....you'll find me. I like "Day Two" cars....it's about time someone started showing people how the cars really were back in the day.

Yeah, the avitar pic is of my 72W30. It's a 50,000 original that I bought up in NJ in 1994. My other Olds is a 70W30 in pretty rough shape that plan to make an everyday driver out of......someday. Hey, great talking to ya.....if you're ever down this way give me holler!

take care,
bob
