body mounts, replace or reuse?

Restoring a '70 442 w-30 & need opinions on body mounts. Seems like the replacements being sold are too tall and way too thick. Whats everyone using when doing body off restorations? It seems like they're really gonna raise the body up & the car will not have that correct, kinda low stance, like the actually had & that looks great..... Opinion appreciated.

First picture below shows what I believe is the stance I'm talking about. It's an unrestored 442 with 17k mi. The following three show and original mount, a replacement on the frame. The last on shows the body sitting higher than normal on the frame. Thanks in advance to all.....

I think your old one are just compressed. My son put new ones on his Chevelle, and It did not change the height that much.

I put Fusick's reproductions on my 66 and they seemed to be correct height.

I could have my wife sit on them for you

nvm ... ya might lose one , all joking aside , my guess would be that perhaps they need to compress like someone mentioned .... are you putting all the weight on them ? maybe after a day or two they compress ... oh and i just noticed , wow on the car resto , that underside looks real clean , I never see a non pitted rear axle before

Your old mounts are compressed. The new ones will compress slightly when you tighten them down and it should be OK.
