About what? It has four wheels and two doors and usually an engine... But seriously, what specifically do you want to know?

Well, the H/O editions were not as numerous. What was the car originally? A 455 4 speed car would be worth more than a 350 auto and so on. What do you mean by rebuilding? How bad or good the car is to start with makes a big difference. If it needs a ton of new metal, interior, and lots of other parts, then probably not. It is like any other car in the fact that "worth" is very subjective. Are you emotionally attached or looking at it a purely monetary point of view? It's really up to how much time and effort you want to put into the car. I have more into mine than its worth and will most likely keep putting into it, but that's because I really enjoy the car and have no plans to part with it.

There are no production records for this car remaining unless it was manufactured in Canada or was exported to Canada.

As far as the fishing expedition on whether to rebuild. Think of it this way. If you like the body style and think you'd like the challenge? Go for it.

Keep in mind that there aren't as many repopped parts for that style of car compared to the 68-72 market. Got a pic or 2 you can post?

The body looks surprisingly good. If the interior is also good I'd go for it. Is the trans missing too? I think you could find a nice motor for it fairly easy. Where are you located?

Is it just the pic or is it scraped down both sides?

dragonmaster you might search DennisG he's a member who has a lot of 73-77 parts etc. Might prove helpful, and he's another great guy from this sight. Best of luck. Brett

Of the several hundred thousand Cutlasses produced in '73, a little over 10,000 '73 442's including H/O's were produced. I see there are 442 numerals on the trunk lid of that car, but does it have original documentation proving it to be a 442? If not, then it's just one of several hundred thousand Cutlasses manufactured in '73. Good luck with it.

Good luck. I really like these and REALLY want one of these. Love the big quarter windows better than the small ones. Seems rare to find one without the half vynil roof.

Sounds like it just needs a motor then? I'm sure you can find one for it. One other question - is the trans a TH400? If it is the car had a 455 in it. That wouldn't surprise me that someone would take out that engine if it came with one.

Relatively complete 73 442's are harder to find. Can you post the cowl tag and VIN info (pic would be best)

Maybe ask him for the guys phone number? Wonder what he means by busted? Might be salvageable. The 455/400 is a great power combo, even if it has J heads.

heres the good the bad and everything i can tell ya.

bad
one grille was recently stolen
center console and buckets are gone but would come with a bench
needs windshield
drivers side floor has a couple rust holes looks lile you could patch it but to do it right i would replace
needs carpet

good
rest of interior is nice
has mint turn signal buckets
supossed to be factory chrome 4 spoke steering wheel
body is solid

odd things i noticed
door panels had an s on them in what i assume is a faux wood grain stipe
no 442 badges inside
looks like it had some sort of wheel flare maybe on it at one point in time as one side has faint outline the other looks to have reminants of what ever they used to put it on with ( at first i thought bondo but not rotted and solid )
some im gonna pass it on to some one else if interested pm me with offer

Sure there are. He asked for production records and there are production records.

Right. 10087. 360 Cutlass (F37) and 9727 Cutlass S (G37).
4-speeds (last year for the performance 4-speed Muncies):
64 Cutlass and 1567 Cutlass S. Not known how many were 4-spd *and* 442.
There were also 829 4-spd Cutlass Supremes.

This car is a Cutlass S.

Man, those two Colonnade coupes look great in black, even in rough shape. Loving the Malibu in the background too. Haven't seen one of those with SS badges in ages...

Yes, the Cutlass S could be ordered with the 442 W29 package. Which means the ^^^ car could very well be a 442. Anything to suggest it would not be?

The 442 option was only available on the F37 and G37 in 1973. Source: factory publication 1973 Oldsmobile Full Line Brochure

So if the header panel, hood and LF fender are original to the car, that's a strong indicator that this car could be a factory 442.

3G37U3M-

3= Oldsmobile Division
G= Cutlass S
37= fastback colonnade coupe
U= 455/Turbo 400 (V would indicate a 455 4-speed car)
3= 1973
M= Lansing MI assembly plant

With this and the hood, my money says its a 442. Look under the rear and see if there's a sway bar on the rear axle. It could be ordered on non-442, but 442 came with it.

Now, the Chevelle I do wonder about, because I've never seen a 73 SS or Laguna car with the small quarter windows.

It's most likely a real 442. I'de bet on it. And black on black, swivel buckets with console and a big block car on top of it. Thats a nice combo. It could make a nice builder. Just not a big dollar car unfortunately.
