69 442 mufflers

Getting to the point to start looking into mufflers. I had a set of Summit brand Magnaflows on my Dodge, and they sounded great. My question is, what size inlet/outlet and what orientation do I need to look for? I'd like to run another set of those, but if I can't then I'll need to divert.

For reference, these are the ones I had on the Dodge:

No way for us to know what system your car has these days. Best to just measure them yourself to avoid buying something that will not fit your pipes..

You are probably not going to find anything that will be a perfectly fitting stock replacement. Are you current mufflers center inlet and offset exhaust or center on both ends of the muffler. I would get as close as possible and then take it to a muffler shop and have them install them. They can make them fit. Many of us on here use Dynomax Super Turbos which have a nice mellow sound. I am not sure what Summit Brand Magnaflows are.

Try contacting Waldron Exhaust in Centreville , Michigan, Ask to talk to the owner John, great guy. He is basically a one man show. He made an entire stainless exhaust for my 1967 442. Absolutely perfect fit, 269-467-7185

Do you plan on using factory-style trumpets? If so, this will pretty much limit your tailpipe diameter to 2.25.

X2 on Waldron. I bought a dual set from them for the 54 Olds I had. They fit perfectly.

Those are probably 2.0 but they can be stretched to slip over a 2.25 tailpipe and welded. As I discovered, 2.5 is definitely out.

I still haven't made it out to measure, but if the Fusick tips can go 2.25..I can get the mufflers I want in that size as well. I may get under there for orientation after work, then go ahead and place the order. If I could have used the tips for a 2.5" system, I already have a spare muffler, ha!
