68 W30 caburetor useage 7028251 7028254

There were posts in this closed thread https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...7028253-a.html which indicated the 251 was used on early W30s. The question is how early is early? How solid is the evidence of the usage?

The reason I'm asking, is a friend has an October 67 built W30. We need to know if he needs to find a 254 or can he use the more available 251.

From what I understand the 254's didn't come until beginning of 68 , don't have exact month . I know of an early build 68 w-30 (fall of 67) that has a 251 as well.

I have a 68 W30 11A build would you think that this would use the 251 or the 254 carb??

And that's how the knowledge stays current and keeps getting passed down.

Change was probably made to satisfy emissions requirements. Lots of things in car world changed in early 1968.

Ironically, I just today posted the Dealer Technical Bulletin about this in another thread. Here it is for completeness.
