67 Olds 442 Radiator shroud

Greetings. Trying to find out if my '67 442 should have a radiator shroud or not. The car was not built with air conditioning, if that makes a difference. Thanks

When looking at the 1967 Oldsmobile RPO option codes. A shroud is not listed...

My guess is no. Although if you think it needs it I would go for it. I owned a 67 Cutlass 330 CID with no AC a 4 blade fixed fan and no shroud. She was original with low miles and ran hot often.

Below is a snapshot of the options included in the 442 package, for cooling all that is mentioned is a "extra thick radiator". I'm figuring that means 3 row. ( My 67 330 had a 2 row...)

Below is a snapshot of additional cooling options. Option Y76 seems to be as good as it got. ( I'm figuring 4 row plus given specifics) And again no mention of shroud...

AC cars all had shroud and clutch fan from the factory. I also had a 67 with HD cooling that had shroud and fan clutch.

Thank you for your response. I checked that list on the OLDSmobility.com some time ago. A great resource for '67 442. Again thanks for your response.

I have had many 67 442's, both with AC and without, automatics and four speeds. All had the heavy duty cooling system and none had any evidence of having a shroud.

I believe the relevant options include:

C60 A/C which includes Y76
V01 heavy duty radiator
Y76 Engine-cooling equipment, which include V01, and pump, and clutch fan, and better alternator.

If you wanted AC, you got Y76 with it, which means you got V01 in it.
If you wanted 3.90 or 3.91 rear, you got V01.

I can't find anything in the specs book that says "shroud." Mine is an AC car with the remnants of a shroud and a non clutch fan which probably isn't original.

My thinking is that Y76 cars got shrouds with the clutch fan, but, for all practical purposes, that meant AC cars, even though the rare wild man could order Y76 on a non AC car.

But, that's just my thought.

For a 442 driven on the street in hot weather, replace all the seals surrounding the radiator as needed, add a shroud, correct fan and clutch, and service the radiator.

Looking through the 1967 assembly manual, section 11 page 2.01 shows a shroud for V8 engines with C60 (air conditioning) ONLY. C60 included Y76 Heavy Duty Cooling Equipment which was heavy duty radiator and water pump, Thermo-Cool fan and Delcotron. have a 1967 C/S 442 , 4 spd with air and it has the original shroud and a clutch fan ( which I assume is the Thermo Cool fan. I am not certain how to identify a heavy duty water pump.
