66 442 alternator bracket

Does anyone know the correct color of the bottom alternator bracket on a 66 400? Is it black or engine color? I've seen both in online pics.

Are you talking about the cast iron piece that attaches to the front of the head? All I've seen from every year were black. But I've only had two 1966's so someone with more experience than I will need to comment.

Black from my experience with many original '66's.

I thought they were on the engine when it was painted
therefore, engine color.

Not so for 1966??

Octania,
I believe you are right. I just found in my 66 assembly manual, referencing bracket 389235, it says "(part of engine assy)". That leans heavily in engine color probability.

I also found a 67 Olds advertising pic that clearly shows the bracket engine color.
I will try to post it here but I'm not real savvy with the photos yet.

That's my understanding as well.
