1967 Pin stripes. Y70

Hi all,

Looking for opinions. I have a 67 post that is spanish red with a black vinyl top. It does not have the pinstripes and I don't know if it did originally. Should I put them on? Or should I not?

Here is the car.

I say leave them off, for two reasons:

1. They could be deleted.
2. If you don't do them JUST right, some helpful Good Olds Guy will be only too happy to tell you so.

You have a beautiful car, whatever you decide.

Beautiful car in a nice setting - always enjoy your pics.
I can not see mine without the pinstripes.
However, the simplicity of your colors is really attractive.
Maybe these picture edits will help you decide.

Thanks for the compliments. Aliens, I see your point, but I do have all of the measurements and dimensions. I would guess the car didn't have them, as they put the car close to stock with the resto, but it is not all factory. (i.e. buckets, and holiday interior)

67KS, I also enjoy yours. Thanks for the edit. I sure like the looks of it, altho I would have them done in black to match the roof. I'm about 50/50 right now otherwise I would have never asked. I can use more input,

I know you mentioned you had the measurements, but here is a link to some info. and pics just the same:

Interesting discussion of the stripes in THIS thread as well:

I tend to agree with the one poster in the above thread that the correct stripes look "too wide" (I think the incorrectly applied stripes on my car are "just right").

Your car looks stunning just the way it is. I looked at the links provided by aliens just to see what the stripe looks like and after seeing it, I'd leave it off. But thats just my take. Some cars look good with stripes, others look fantastic with stripes, others just don't need stripes to look awesome. If it was my car, it would stay as is.

Where might I be able to gander at these imposter stripes?

My tendency is towards presenting my cars on the net in the best possible light. That generally translates to making it look better than it actually is. That said, I've attached a photo that shows how narrow the stripes are (esp. obvious on the front fender tip). The stripes are also a grey color that I am not sure was ever offered. Oh yeah, they are also taped, not painted (and whoever did it taped right over the gap between the fender and the diecast tip). My car was refurbished back in the late 80s, so I'm actually amazed the effort was made at all to try to duplicate the factory stripes.

And yes, I've been told they are wrong on more than one occasion since I bought the car in late 2009.

Nice looking car. You can see from a mile away they are way closer together. Looks good.

It was my understanding, the pinstripes were apart of the 1967 442's package and applied at the factory, not dealership.

Your 442 is beautiful Personally, I would leave pinstripes off.
