1967 442 Wood Steering Wheel

I recently acquired a 1967 442 with low mileage, that has not really been molested or changed, but I wanted to verify the steering wheel as being original and correct for 1967. It is a wood wheel, and there is one just like it on eBay right now.

Here is the link.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

That's a 68 Olds steering wheel, it was not offered on the 67 Olds. But it does fit correctly on the 67.

FYI the 68 wheel is brushed stainless with a plastic outer grip (simulated wood). Note a similar wheel is installed in vettes, C2 & C3s the later C3s the outer is black. The "dish" or off set on the vette wheel is deeper than the Olds wheel. So verify the off set before dropping 800 bones on a wheel! The reproduced vette wheel is about 250 and it will fit the olds column.

Actually, Buick, Chevy, and Olds all used the three spoke "woodgrain" wheel at one time or another. The A-body version has a different dish than the Corvette version.

A-bodies had wood wheel options for '64 and '65 too, but they skipped '66 and '67.

Joe, yes the dish is different. I believe the Vette wheel is deeper due to the column & seat location in the C3, especially the first year, the car that should have never been! Im not sure when GM adjusted the column dimension or if they ever did in the C3. If so it didn't happen until maybe 74-75? I can look into that if someone really needs that info. The vette wheel should work on any A body as the dish off-set and possibly the diameter is the only difference. The vette repro vendors also offer all the other parts except the Olds horn center. I will try to measure my two 68s to see what the difference actually is but its not a ton, maybe an inch. I seem to remember the diameters slightly larger by an inch as well. For $800 you could buy several repro wheels. There is a couple of guys out their who specialize in repairing these wheels. Ill bet they have a stock of them and Ill bet their not 800 either. Always check the Vette vendors for GM parts as many are similar if not the same. Many are the HD version of the same part on your Olds too. The NCRS guys are a picky bunch so no junk is tolerated in their resto world (me being one of them).

My '65 442 has a woodgrained wheel (plastic), is two spoke and has black main section with black seperating the woodgrained section with small chrome rings between the woodgrain and black. Will take a picture and post it.2013-03-03_15-36-35_71_zps079bbba3.jpg?t=1363105536

The B/C body wheels are like that too. IIRC, all of the Deluxe colors are available with the Custom Deluxe.
