1965 442 Bracket Question

My 65 442 has an F block 455 in it. Both the power steering and alternator are on the driver's side and it's getting a little busy. The A/C has all been removed over the years, so I'm wondering how hard it would be to find an alternator bracket for a non-A/C 455 and move the unit over to the passenger side. Also, would the pulleys line up? Seems to be running on the inside pulley.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
I've had numerous 330 brackets, but I don't think they would have worked.
Are they sold aftermarket, perhaps?

Dave, the 330 brackets will work just fine I would just use the set I do know that on the 65 442 the power steering pulley is different from ac/ non/ 442 so you might need to use the power steering pump as well not 100% in that

For some reason, when I sold my last couple of 330 engines, I looked at the alternator brackets and decided they wouldn't fit the 455. Can't remember why now, but it's a moot point because I no longer have them.
Could be I made an error in judgement. That happens quite a bit these days !!

I can live with it for now. Got the gas tank in and all the lines hooked up. Car is finally running on gas from it's own tank again.
Now to somehow fashion a linkage from the carb to the firewall linkage, as the stock piece doesn't seem to line up with the Pontiac carb I'm using.
Then to run a wire from the fuse panel to the distributor so it'll start and turn off with the key.
Then I'll be ready to test drive this thing and see how these little 215/70/15 tires hold the road !!
I think this Chevy diff is going to put them through their paces.
Man, it's been a long time coming...

1965-67 330 passenger side alternator brackets also fit a BBO. The 64 brackets are unique and SBO only because the BBO didn't exist in 1964.

No, it's a new mechanical fuel pump. The lines are 3/8 right back to the tank, at which point the sending unit tube is only 5/16. The tank came from a 330 f-85, so I guess they had a smaller fuel line than the 442. If the sending unit ever goes belly up, I'll change it for a bigger feed, if they make one.

I'll keep that in mind for when I get my next parts car.
Maybe I was thinking, at the time, that I'd leave it in case somebody wanted to put A/C back in. Hard to say what I was thinking. I'm already working on my 62 Pontiac project off and on, and I haven't even got this on the road.
Isn't it the way, though? Never enough time, mostly because of my own mismanagement.

If you find the alternator brackets and want to use the rest of the existing pulleys, you can try an alternator pulley that has 2 grooves. The one groove pulley on the alternator would not line up, but the outside groove on the double alternator pulley lined up perfect. "It worked for me".

Good luck,

What is the newer style as opposed to the older style, Stan?

Good luck,
Good info to keep in mind. Did you have the same issue with an ex-A/C car, or were your brackets just missing?

I suppose until I find a parts car that has all the pulleys and sundry for my 455, I'll just sit tight and focus on the myriad of things that absolutely have to be done. No chance of that list running out any time soon

Something looked like it wouldn't work with 330 brackets. Wish I could remember what it was. Maybe had something to do with the headers. If only my brain functioned at a slightly higher level...I'll work on it.
Maybe I'm thinking of a different car. That's entirely possible, too.
